Lolo is a census-designated place that resides in Missoula County, Montana, and is part of the Missoula Montana Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is home to Traveler’s Rest State Park, which is a site where Lewis and Clark camped twice, once in 1805 and again in 1806. Lolo is located at the confluence of U.S Routes 12 and 93 as well as at the eastern end of the Lolo Trail. This small area is surrounded by rolling hills and mountain views, and is a gorgeous community for potential residents and visitors alike.
Lolo experiences the typical Montanan weather, falling under a semi-arid climate classification. This means cold, moderately snowy winters and hot, dry summers being filled with short crisp springs and autumns in the middle. Winters tend to be milder than the rest of the state due to the location west of the Rockies, which allows Lolo and its surrounding areas to be influenced by mild, moist Pacific air.
Lolo is a phenomenal place to get out and experience Montana outside of the big city charm of Missoula. Lolo is naturally beautiful, and combines activities of Lolo Creek and the Bitterroot River, as well as natural parks and bigger areas near Missoula. For nature lovers, or those who want to experience Montana in a small, gorgeous area that allows for both indoor and outdoor delights, Lolo is a phenomenal area.
